In loving memory of
Winston Sande
1943

2023
This website was created in memory of beloved husband, father and grandfather, Dr Winston "Win" Sande, of 97 Harland Way, Cottingham, East Yorkshire.
Win passed away in hospital, peacefully and surrounded by family, on March 8, 2023, at the end of a courageous two year battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer. He will be remembered fondly by his wife, Marina, and his children, Melanie, Sonia and Kiran, as well as his grandchildren and extended family, not to mention friends, colleagues and the huge number of patients who he served with tremendous care and courtesy throughout his 40-year career as a doctor of medicine and General Practitioner in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
A kind, loving, selfless and utterly charming man - "a true gentleman" as so many of you have put it - Win touched many hearts during his long and happy life. While it is painful for us to have to say goodbye, we are so grateful for the time which we were able to spend with him. Right up to the end, he fought his merciless illness with incredible bravery and resolve, and without a single complaint. We are glad that his suffering is now over and he is able to rest in peace.
Win's committal took place on Tuesday 28 March, 2023, at Haltemprice Crematorium in Willerby, Hull; a video link will be posted in the 'Funeral' section of this website for those who were unable to attend. You will also be able to read the eulogy and two other readings given in honour of Win.
Furthermore, we hope this website will act as a lasting and open-ended celebration of Win's life and legacy, which we will add to over the coming weeks and months. We warmly encourage you to add your own written tributes, small or large, to the Memories section of the site.
Additionally, and if you are able, we invite you to make a donation to Pancreatic Cancer UK, to help others in honour of Win. Visit the Donate section for more information.
If you have any questions or anything you wish to share privately, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us directly via the Contact page.
We all miss him terribly, but his memory will live on.
With thanks,
Marina, Melanie, Sonia & Kiran Sande
